Jaydn Pingree tallied four hits and drove in three runs to pace the third-seeded Phoenix (14-3) over the sixth-seeded Bulldogs (8-10) in a Class C South quarterfinal in Jay.
One of Pingree’s four hits was a double. Rylee Turner had two doubles and a single. She, Leah Burgess, Jazmine Pingree and Makinlee Holt drove in two runs apiece for Spruce Mountain, which advances to face second-seeded Monmouth in the semifinals later this week.
Turner picked up the win for the Phoenix. She allowed four runs on six hits and struck out five batters.
Emma Anton had a double and two RBIs for Madison. Mackenzie Robbins also had a double.
