The Hornets (3-3) scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back in their win over the Falcons (0-2) in Turner.
After the four-run first, Leavitt scored two runs in each of the next two innings. Matt Wallingford, Garrett Mollica and Jayden Ruel powered the Hornets’ offense with two hits apiece.
After falling behind 8-0, Mountain Valley, which was led by three hits from Anthony Mazzla, scored twice in the fourth and once in the fifth, but was unable to close the gap any tighter.
