YARMOUTH 10, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 0: Luke Waeldner struck out nine and allowed one hit as he tossed a five-inning shutout to lead the seventh-ranked Clippers (10-7) over the 10th-seeded Phoenix (9-8) in a Class B South prelim at Yarmouth.
After a scoreless first, Yarmouth took a 3-0 lead in the second with Aidan Hickey hitting an RBI single. Hickey finished with two hits and two RBI. Dominic Morrill went 3 for 3 for the Clippers.
Nick Lombardi had a single for Spruce Mountain’s hit.
Yarmouth advanced to play second-ranked Cape Elizabeth (11-5) in the Class B South quarterfinals at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Cape Elizabeth.
