Sierra Carey drove in two runs in the first inning and that was all the run support the River Hawks (16-1) starting pitcher needed in a Class A North quarterfinal win over the Red Eddies (7-10) at Skowhegan.
Carey and Kiara Warren, who pitched from the sixth inning on, combined to scatter seven hits and strike out five for second-seeded Skowhegan. Maddy Morris collected two hits and three RBIs.
Maddie Emmert had two hits for 10th-seeded Edward Little, which scored its lone run in the top of the second inning.
