BANGOR 4, MESSALONSKEE 3, 8 INN.: Jenna Smith hit a tiebreaking home run with two outs in the eighth, and the eighth-seeded Rams beat No. 1 Messalonskee in the A North quarterfinals in Oakland.
Bangor (9-9) trailed 3-1 after five but scored two in the sixth to even the score. Smith had a double in addition to the home run, while Lydia Chase also doubled and Lane Barron drove in two runs. Barron also struck out seven in eight innings in the circle.
Brooke Martin and Morgan Wills had two RBI apiece for the Eagles (14-3), and Wills also struck out 14 in six innings. Maddy Card had an RBI for Messalonskee.
