MONMOUTH ACADEMY 39, DIRIGO 30: The Mustangs (9-5) struggled through the middle quarters but started and finished strong to claim victory over the Cougars (10-6) in Dixfield.

Monmouth opened up a 14-8 lead after one quarter, but was limited eight points in the second and third quarters combined and entered the fourth trailing 23-22. The Mustangs, who held Dirigo to two third-quarter points, outscored Dirigo 17-7 in the final eight minutes of the game.

Monmouth’s Kaitlyn Frost scored a game-high 18 points, including eight at the free-throw line. Teammate Maeve Burgess scored five of her nine points at the line.

Abby Luczynski had a team-high 10 points for Dirigo.
