Mason Kelso drove in three runs and Keeler Vogt and Ryder Simpson combined on a five-hitter and didn’t surrender an earned run as sixth-ranked Greely (10-7) beat No. 11 York (9-8) in a Class B South prelim in Auburn.
The game was moved from Cumberland to the turf at Central Maine Community College due to poor conditions on the Rangers’ field.
Greely advances to take on third-ranked Wells in the quarterfinals Thursday.
Simpson put the Rangers ahead with an RBI single in the fourth and Kelso added a run with an RBI groundout.
The Wildcats got an unearned run back in the top of the fifth, but in the bottom half, Simpson drew a bases loaded walk off York starter Ben Brown, then Kelso hit a two-run single.
Simpson retired all four batters he faced to close it out. Vogt struck out five in 5 2/3 innings.
