Andrew Heffernan struck out 12 with pitching a two-hitter, leading the second-seeded Red Riots (14-3) past the No. 10 Rams (10-8) in a Class A South quarterfinal at South Portland.
George Lazos broke up Heffernan’s no-hit bid with a two out single in the fifth inning.
Nick Swain had three hits and an RBI, Heffernan scored three times, and Nolan Hobbs and Richie Gilboy chipped in with two hits apiece while combining for three RBI.
The Red Riots host No. 6 Marshwood on Saturday.
