The second-seeded Clippers (13-3) held off a strong challenge by the third-seeded Eagles (15-1), winning 15-7 in the final set in Yarmouth to advance to the Class B state championship game.

Yarmouth, the four-time reigning state champion, won the first two sets, 25-15, 25-16, before Messalonskee rallied in sets three and four, 25-20 and 25-19.

The Clippers will play undefeated No. 1 seed Washington Academy at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the University of Southern Maine.
