Second-seeded Greely took control in the first half, then used an 11-2 run ending the third quarter to put away 10th-seeded Brunswick with a 58-41 victory in a Class A South boys’ basketball quarterfinal Saturday at the Portland Expo.
Greely (12-7) scored the first eight points of the game and the first six of the second half in advancing to a semifinal against third-seeded Marshwood (13-5) at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Expo.
Andrew St. Hilliare scored 17 points, Tim Walker added 12, and Dee Martin Coyne was an inside force for the Rangers with nine points and eight rebounds.
Thomas Harvey, who scored 12 of Brunswick’s 17 points in the first half, finished with 16. The Dragons (6-13) had advanced with a preliminary-round upset at Kennebunk.
