Four players scored as top-ranked Scarborough began defense of its Class A title with a 5-0 win over No. 8 South Portland in a South quarterfinal on Monday in Scarborough.

The Red Storm (14-1) advance to the semifinals and face No. 5 Cheverus on Friday.

Scarborough took the lead when Lana Djuranovic scored in the 10th minute. Djuranovic added a goal on a corner kick, then Paige Garlock scored to make it 3-0 at the half.

Talia Borelli and Maggie Booth added second-half goals.

Amelia Burton-Fowler had 17 saves for the Red Riots (8-6-2).
