YARMOUTH 9, CAPE ELIZABETH 3

Annie Lowenstein paced a balanced attack with three goals and Yarmouth’s girls’ lacrosse team opened its season with a 9-3 victory at Cape Elizabeth.
Lowenstein scored the first two goals of the game and after Charlotte Graham and Laura Ryer answered for the Capers, Annie Bergeron scored to put the Clippers ahead for good. Katelyn D’Appolonia added a goal for a 4-2 halftime lead.
Yarmouth’s Natalie Teare and Ryer traded goals to start the second half, but Cape Elizabeth (0-4) wouldn’t score again, as Clippers’ goalie Juliet Meas stopped 11 shots, and goals from Lowenstein, Teare and two goals from Aine Powers put it away.
