Hayden Staples rushed for three touchdowns and Medomak Valley earned its first regional football title with a 40-20 victory Friday night in the Class C North final at Hampden Academy.

Staples staked the top-seeded Panthers to a 13-0 lead with a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter. After the first of three touchdown runs by Hermon’s Gary Glidden, Chase Peaslee’s 1-yard run made it 20-6 at halftime.

Glidden cut the deficit to 20-14 with a 9-yard run in the third quarter. But Medomak quickly answered with a 45-yard pass from Wyatt Simmons to Blake Morrison, then added 2-yard runs by Liam Wilson and Staples in the fourth.

Glidden capped the scoring with a 91-yard run.
