Senior guard Evan Burnell and junior forward Brock Bates recorded double-doubles and hammered the glass down the stretch to lift Monmouth to a 66-59 triumph over Richmond in boys’ basketball action Friday evening.

Burnell tabulated 21 points and 17 rebounds, while Bates added 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Mustangs (10-4). Senior guard Dylan Lajoie chipped in with 10 points for Monmouth.

The Bobcats (4-11) were aggressive and physical, keeping Monmouth in check during the first three quarters and taking a 43-40 lead into the final frame. Junior guard Mason Blake scored a game-high 24 points, while junior forward Kenneth Bing had 16 points for Richmond in the losing effort.
