Junior point guard Lexi Mittelstadt made 13 of 15 free throw opportunities and a total of 20 game points to lead Mt. Blue to a 49-42 triumph over Cony in girls’ basketball action Saturday evening.
The Cougars (6-6) were trailing by one with just under four minutes remaining in regulation when they managed to break the press with a couple of fast break field goals. Mittelstadt made 10 free throws in a row in the second half, while the Mt. Blue squad connected for 12 free throws in the fourth quarter for the difference.
Freshman shooting guard Eva-Marie Stevens added to the Mt. Blue effort with five points, eight rebounds and nine steals.
Julia Reny led the Rams (0-13) with 10 points in the losing effort.
