Matt Marquis and Seth McKenney each had doubles for the Mustangs (3-0) in their win over the Cougars (1-1) in Dixfield.
Marquis had three hits in the game, while McKenney had two. Hayden Fletcher added a triple and two singles.
Dirigo trailed 7-1 entering the bottom of the fifth inning, then scored five runs to cut the deficit to one run. Monmouth added an insurance run in the top of the sixth.
