MESSALONSKEE 5, EDWARD LITTLE 4, 8 INNINGS
Evan Demott hit the game-winning single in the bottom of the eighth to push the Eagles (4-0) past the Red Eddies (3-1) in Oakland.
The teams went to extra innings tied 1-1 before Edward Little struck for two in the top of the eighth. Jack Keefe singled one run in and Colin Merritt squeezed in another. Alex Avila stranded nine runners in six innings as the starter.
Demott started the game on the mound for Messalonskee. Andrew Mayo earned the win despite being greeted by the Red Eddies’ two run-scoring plays in the eighth. He was the only repeat hitter for the Eagles.
