Junior guard Simon McCormick drained a game-high 29 points as Cony grabbed a late game run to jettison Mt. Blue 76-49 in boys’ basketball action Saturday evening.
The Cougars (9-4) made a big run in the third quarter to lead by two. But, that all evaporated in the final frame when Cony hit eight three-pointers for 24 of their 34 points.
Freshman forward Luke Briggs connected for five three-pointers and two free throws for 17 points for the Rams (10-4). McCormick had nine field goals, including six three-pointers, and five from the free throw line for Cony.
Senior guards James Anderson and Garrett Reynolds recorded 15 and 14 points, respectively, for Mt. Blue in the losing effort.
