The Mustangs (13-3) scored half a dozen runs in the fourth inning to break the tie and take down the Rangers (2-15) in Monmouth to advance to the second round of the Class C South playoffs.
After a 2-2 tie through three innings, Monmouth Academy scored six in the fourth inning to break loose and earn the opening round victory for the Mustangs. Monmouth’s Hayden Fletcher notched a double on the day while teammate Hunter Frost tallied a triple in the win. Cam Armstrong pitched six innings to earn the victory on the mound.
Traip Academy used four pitchers in Tuesday’s clash. Cam Maes hit a double in the loss.
