Tyler McCannell scored just 1:08 into the contest to give second-seeded Old Town/Orono (13-5-1) the lead, and Aidan Rand turned away all 28 shots he faced as the Coyotes defeated the seventh-seeded Witches (7-10-2) in a Class B North quarterfinal at Alfond Arena in Orono.
Jackson Campbell scored late in the second period for the Coyotes.Tanner Evans added an insurance goal early in the third.
The Coyotes will meet No. 6 Messalonskee on Saturday at Colby College.
