Emma Snyder and Emily Jacobs each scored in the first four minutes to start the second-seeded Mustangs (14-1) on their way to a win over the seventh-seeded Spartans (9-7) in a Class A South quarterfinal in Waterboro.

Snyder made it 3-0 in the second half, assisted by Jacobs, and Izzy Hurlburt rounded out the scoring for the Mustangs, who will host No. 3 Gorham at 11 a.m. Saturday. Massabesic goalie Julia Gregoire made 10 saves.

Alysha Simpson put Sanford on the scoreboard with 2:47 remaining. Jordan Benvie had 17 saves for the Spartans.
